Team Big Bear Bikes - Endura Race Kit

Hi All,

The expected delivery time from Endura is some time w/c 19th March for the new kit.  To confirm, BBB will provide, free of charge a pair of bib shorts and a s/s jersey to all current, racing members of the team facebook page.  The usual cost of this is £111.60 per rider.

We have revised the design over last year's with the main changes being the shorts are now black and there is a black/grey/white fade on the front and back of the jersey so they tie in with the shorts.  Kit should be easier to keep clean but still have the bold white and orange colour scheme that is so photogenic and all 2011 kit can still be worn alongside the new 2012 kit.

Please email shop@bigbearbikes.co.uk with your Endura size as soon as pos!!!

There are several other items of team kit that you might want to order on top of the free kit and I have listed all the extra items we are doing below including a team bag.  Please let me know on your size email what other items you want or if you want to order extra bib shorts or short sleeve jerseys?  The kit list and the prices are listed at the bottom of this page.

Can I ask that the 2012 bib shorts and s/s jerseys are kept for 'Sunday best' and worn only for racing so they look great, for longer!

Lastly, as we will all be wearing BBB kit with BBB and Trek logos can I ask that if you are looking at buying a new bike, you get in touch with me as we will do very good deals for racers and their families.  We are dealers for Trek, Orange, Genesis, Ridgeback, ibis and Ragley bikes which are all great bikes and market leaders.  Therefore, unless we are miles away on price (very, very unlikely!) and taking into account the other discounts and benefits for team members, I see no reason to buy a new bike from any other bike shop.

Good luck for all your 2012 races!
David

Good news - Independent Panel on Forestry - Progress Report

Independent Panel on Forestry – Progress Report (published 8 December)

We have previously corresponded about the Coalition Government’s plans to sell Forestry Commission woodlands. Good news so far - the panel published its progress report on Thursday 8 December.  Its final report and recommendations are expected in Spring 2012.  The interim report recognises the important role that the Public Forest Estate plays in providing public enjoyment and access, helping to develop new green jobs and protecting biodiversity; and calls for the public forest estate to remain in public hands.

The progress report argues that the Public Forest Estate offers “very good value for money” and calls for the creation of more woodlands and improved public access to private forests and woodlands.  The panel notes that the cost to the state of maintaining the Public Forest Estate, of £20 million per year, is “very modest and delivers benefits far in excess of this” and argues that the Government overlooked a number of benefits of public forests and woodlands when planning to sell off Forestry Commission land.  The full progress report can be read by clicking here.

The panel has listened to the 42,000 people who responded to its call for views and has indicated that it will not recommend a full scale sell-off of public forestry land.  The Government still intends to sell 15% of the Public Forest Estate and is cutting the Forestry Commission’s staff by a quarter, which will undermine the ability of the Forestry Commission to effectively manage the forests and deliver better woodland access and biodiversity.

Will update you as we hear more.......
