Save our Woods - forestry celebration...

Hi All,

Forestry celebration and ramble - 11am, Sunday 20th March, Dalby Forest

Following the Government’s suspension of all planned forest sales for the time being, announced in the House of Commons on 17 February, Hugh Bayley (MP for York) is organising a celebration and ramble through Dalby Forest to mark the success of our campaign, which has helped lead to the Government’s climbdown on forest privatisation.  Thank you for your support.

You are invited to attend the ramble, which will take place on Sunday 20th March from 11am, to mark World Forest Day.  There will be some speeches, after which foresters will be on hand to lead groups on the walk and demonstrate examples of good forestry practice.  They will show us the great work that the Forestry Commission does on nature conservation, education and public access.

We will meet at Dalby Forest Visitor Centre, which has plenty of car parking, toilets and refreshment facilities.  It can be accessed via Pickering on the A169 Pickering to Whitby road.  There are brown tourist signs that lead the way from Pickering and further information is available at www.forestry.gov.uk/dalbyforest

Please keep me posted if you hear of any new developments via email or on the Big Bear Bikes Facebook page:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Big-Bear-Bikes/214404998097

Best regards.
David

Mountain Mayhem - 24 Hour MTB Race & Festival - Have a go with BBB!

Mountain Mayhem - its the biggest Mountain Bike race and festival in the UK (pos the world!) with 2500 competitors and another 15000 supporters!  Its a 24 hour race and this year is held the on Sat 18th & Sun 19th June.

Would you like to take part with Big Bear Bikes?  We would really like you to come along with us!  You can race solo (bonkers hard - ask Wayne) or be part of a team (not quite so hard) or you are very welcome to come and support the riders as they will need all the help they can get!  The offer is open to ladies and gents as you can have mixed and same sex teams of four, five or ten and you could bring the family as there is loads of camping space.

Don't worry if you have never raced before as the weekend is as much about the festival atmosphere and the fun as it is about the racing and you don't need a race bike - any reasonable mountain bike will be ok.  A lap is 8 miles and takes about an hour for most riders.

If you only do one Mountain Bike 'event' this year then Mountain Mayhem would be a very good one.  If you would like to join us or if you have any questions at all, then please just ring us on 01751-474220 on email us at shop@bigbearbikes.co.uk.

Here is the event website: http://www.osmountainmayhem.co.uk/wknd_timetable.html

PS. Entries have to be in by the 28th February so you don't have long to decide.
